Stress Resources

I’m standing outside the Obedience ring first thing in the morning, watching the round, in a state of panic, and having a whole conversation with myself about everything that could go wrong. I have driven over 100 miles and I am talking myself out of competing before I’ve stepped into the ring!

I listen to other competitors and I hear so many people having similar conversations. Sadly, some people give up and decide to train.

Fortunately, I wake up quickly to the fact that my feelings of anxiety arent telling me about my abilities, or confidence. My feelings are alerting me to the principle of Thought taking an anxious form in the moment.

The moment I see this, I fall out of my thinking and back into the moment, at which point the solution arrives.

Nowadays I don’t fear my competition nerves so much.

And I use my experiences to help others experience a re-jig of how they experience reality, and to create the specific results they desire (or something even better).

One of the things I love doing is 1 Day Obedience Workshops – where I distil everything from my 3 day transformational coaching ‘intensives’ and share it with Obedience folks.

I believe there is a balance between physically training your dog and training your mind, but it’s often not addressed or even mentioned in the Obedience world. By finding this balance we start achieving, we start living our dreams. Anything is possible if you put action to your thoughts. Be brave! Feel the thrill in achieving something instead of being paralysed by overthinking it, or imagining everything that could go wrong.

After all, thoughts become things, so choose the good ones.

Are you ready to love competing? Join me.

The Competitive Obedience Workshop …if you’re a competitor and you want to experience the power of light hearted, helpful, and insightful coaching on Saturday xxx, at The Paddock. I’ll be doing my first in person Obedience workshop since 2019. It’s a small group of 6-10 people, and gives sport dog handlers and competitors the opportunity to learn how to train their mind as well as their dog, so they can perform at their best (or not, and still be ok with that).
